The creator and owner of Black Cake, Erika Mark, draws inspiration as a girl from a small town with big dreams. At a young age, Erika’s parents encouraged a lifestyle filled with creativity, independence, uniqueness and free spirited values that are a reflection of Black Cake.

As a child, Erika spent countless hours playing dress up in her grandma’s vintage slips and jewels. At the age of eight, Erika declared her undying love for Esprit in a letter she wrote to the company’s president. She wanted to work for them when she “grew up”. By the age of ten, Erika discovered a new love, Marilyn Monroe. Dressing like the Hollywood icon, Erika draped herself in leopard print, fur boleros and red lipstick- like the blonde bombshell herself.

Knowing her destiny was to be part of the ever-growing fashion industry, Erika pursued an education in fashion and studied design at Philadelphia University and in Florence, Italy. Upon graduation, Erika knew she belonged in the spot light and made her move to Hollywood, CA, where her life would change forever. Working with designers and companies such as Betsey Johnson, Baby Phat, Nanette Lepore, True Religion, and Christian Audigier, Erika’s passion for fashion was not stopping without a line to call her own.

After making her move to Hollywood, Erika came across something that would eventually be the influence for Black Cake- a box of vintage lingerie at an estate sale. Obsessing over her new discovery, Erika searched high and low for the classiest and sexiest pieces, building a collection like no other. Although vintage lingerie was her fascination, Erika knew she could not stop there.

With her knowledge and experience, Erika went to work and not at her 9 to 5. Spending endless nights sketching, Erika began creating what would become a ready to wear contemporary clothing line sparked nonetheless by her pristine collection. Blending her love for Hollywood, Rock n’ Roll and Marilyn Monroe, the birth of Black Cake arose.

Black Cake made her first appearance aboard the famous Queen Mary Ship in Long Beach, California at the annual Ink n Iron Festival. Quickly stealing the spot light, women were drawn to Black Cake’s fun, flirty, sexy and sophisticated look. A clientele including tantalizing burlesque dancers, gorgeous pinup dolls, and other babelicious bombshells was built.

The success of Ink n Iron led Black Cake to England’s annual London Tattoo Convention making its debut in the English fashion scene. Alongside Hollywood and London, Black Cake also swept the Las Vegas Strip displaying the brands yumminess at Love Jones boutique at the Hard Rock Vegas.

Black Cake paired up with world famous Dollhouse Photography UK for their look book. Black Cake has been spotted on pinup models Heather Valentine, October Divine and Pinupdoll Ashley Marie and on E! Channel’s WWE Total Divas Nikki Bella and Natalya Neidhart. Aside from photography and reality television, Black Cake was also featured as a special guest on Los Angeles’s KTLA’s morning news in early 2016.

As the owner and creator, Erika Mark continues to build a lifestyle brand that inspires, guides and motivates women of all walks to enhance the taste of their delicious lifestyle. Remaining true to her born in Hollywood, fashioned by Rock n Roll and inspired by Marilyn Monroe vision, Black Cake continues to satisfy women’s needs to feel feminine, confident and individualistic.

With a bright future ahead, owner Erika Mark is thrilled to open Black Cake’s flagship store in Los Angeles, where not only her brand was created, but also produced. As a fashionista and Angelino, Erika considers her greatest achievement her fans.

With Black Cake, you can have your CAKE and WEAR it too.
