Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I submit?

A: Send an email to VintageBoudoirMag@gmail.com with 2-6 high resolution photos. You can be the photographer or the model as long as you have permission. I will then get back to you generally within 14 days to let you know if the photos fit the guidelines. I am looking for vintage lingerie looks, from the 20's to the 60's at the latest. I will take vintage inspired looks but will put preference on classic vintage pieces. I have a preference for the 40's myself.

Q: I have photos but they have been posted online, can I still submit them?

A: Yes, you can. There is just so much posted out there nowadays that I don't have a problem publishing a photo you had on your Facebook. The only thing is that if I have to pick between published and unpublished, well, you know... Please no magazine published photos though.

Q: What kind of content is Vintage Boudoir looking for?

A: We are looking for vintage lingerie models of all walks of life, photographers, fashion designers, Vaudeville and Burlesque performers, vintage stores, people with a passion for 20's to 60's lingerie and have a story to tell. I want men to appreciate it and women to celebrate it.

Q: Will there be themes?

A: While we may favor a themed photo for a cover or a model feature, there will be no every month a different theme. We consider that vintage lingerie is a special niche in itself and this will be the recurring theme throughout for our regular issue. There are Special Edition issues that will return throughout the year: Please keep an eye on this page and on our social media sites for information on our themes.

Q: What do I need to send to Vintage Boudoir Magazine when submitting as a Model/Photographer?

A: You will simply need to send 2-6 high resolution photos with your real name, model name, photographer's name, any links to your photographer or your FB page and MUAH credits. I would also like to give some details about the lingerie you are wearing aka is it vintage original or a modern retro inspired company. If you are considered I will send you the release form to return to me before publication. PLEASE REMEMBER that in order to be publishable a photo must be a minimum of 300 DPI resolution and a MINIMUM width of 2550 pixels. Otherwise they will appear blurry in print which means, we will not publish them. Remember that during the print process the edges of the page gets cropped so try to leave an inch around the body as background so no hands, heads or feet gets cropped.

Q: What do I need to send to Vintage Boudoir Magazine when submitting as a Artisan, Fashion Designer, Company?

A: Your website's address, who you are, what you do, some high res photos of your work, what inspires you, how to connect with your products. I will present one feature of each kind per issue.

Q: I want a cover! How do I get that?

A: Currently the cover is meant for photographer feature but the back cover is free agent. The quality of your work will speak for itself. While I always of course appreciate the fact that it takes brave souls to throw yourself out there and that you can ask to be on the cover, I ask you to think about the fact that your popularity will not equal a guaranteed cover. Be a classy dame!

Q: Why should I submit to Vintage Boudoir Magazine?

A: This is the part where I sell myself. Ahem!

1. On the technical side, I was classically trained as a graphic artist and a Ad agency & public relations grunt which gave me access to newspaper and magazine editing skills early on in my career. I owned my own freelance graphic artist agency for a few years. I worked online on websites like Nintendo of America and other publicly traded companies. I also have some photography training so no stretching, cropping, distorting.

2. I am absolutely NUTS for vintage and modern lingerie. Fashion is a passion I just can't shake from my blood. Even as a kid I would look at old advertisements for lingerie, nightgowns, thinking that we should just be wearing those instead of real clothes. It's like we are all closet princesses once the clothes come off!

3. I am a published model so I get how much courage, determination and passion it takes for you to throw yourself out there. I love this field and I know I am not going to be able to do this forever but I have met and fell in love with so many of you ladies out there, I want to keep helping others become everything they want to be and share that joy of a first feature, cover or even photo!

4. Artisans, fashion companies, vintage lingerie restoration, collectors, we want to hear your stories! I will be collecting interviews, articles, fashion features and will be making one spotlight on a company every month without charge! I want to share some great work with the people who are passionate about it.

I will add to this section as the questions comes along! Thank you for your interest and passion!
